Mexico
claims second victory in Pool C
TIJUANA, Mexico, July 6, 2010 – Mexico recorded its second
victory in Pool C of the NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental
Championship by defeating El Salvador 3-0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-8) in
Tuesday’s last match. The home girls overcame a 0-4 start in the
first set and never looked back dominating their opponents.
Karla Sainz led Mexico with 11 points and Xitlali Herrera and
Alejandra Isiordia added 9 and 8 respectively. El Salvador had
Adriana Flores with 10 points.
“I think we improved our attitude against a very aggressive team
of El Salvador in the first set and we are catching our rhythm
in time to face the stronger teams of NORCECA starting with USA
tomorrow,” Mexican Alfredo Bernal said. “We are going after the
first place in our pool and that means we will try to win
against USA.”
“We can see that we are not at the same level with some of the
teams of NORCECA but tomorrow we will be going for a victory
against Guadeloupe,” said Luis Santos, the assistant coach of El
Salvador.
